The news of the Pulse Orlando (a LGBT Nightclub) on early morning 2am on Sunday, June 12, 2016 has become the largest mass shooting in the United States history. It is no doubt also the largest hate-crime against the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender community.

While worldwide support is very evident, we at Gay Island Guide in Hawaii, USA extends our sincerest Aloha to the victims, families and friends of the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. This selfish act has brought much hurt and tears among our team and our families as we feel they are all apart of our family.

We also extend special condolences to the family of Edward (Eddie) Sotomayor, Jr. who was a close friend of our model friend Hunter Vance as well as one of our local bartenders. Top Hat Eddie was a very kind and spirited soul.

We also send our special condolences to the family of former Hawaii Resident, Kimberly (Kim) Morris who recently moved to Florida to care for her mother and grandmother and was a bouncer at Pulse. She was always smiling and did anything she could for everyone she encountered.

A Hawaii Vigil for the victims of Pulse Nightclub is being planned by the community for Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 5:30pm on the Ward Center end of Ala Moana Beach Park. All are welcomed.

The biennial Rim of the Pacific exercise more commonly known as RIMPAC will be held around the Hawaiian Islands June 30 to August 4, 2016. The international event will bring 25,000 personnel along with 200 aircraft, 45 ships and 5 submarines to participate in 27 nation maritime training.

Without doubt, RIMPAC will bring an influx of visitors to the Islands including our Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual and Transgender brothers and sisters from around the world. GayIslandGuide.com is excited for them to be able to utilize our website as a resource in getting around in the islands and be able to enjoy Hawaii during their off time.
